Privacy Protection – Even At the Weekend
Protect your privacy at all times. Technical surveillance attacks (commonly referred to as bugs) can be installed at any time.
We thought it worth reminding people that protecting your personal or organisational privacy still matters during the weekend!
Now this may seem a little strange to have to say this but, someone who wishes to compromise your privacy doesn’t only operate 9-5, Monday-Friday!
We have to constantly remind clients not to approach their security in silos of purely physical or cyber threats, because this ignores the gap exploited by technical surveillance attacks. Spending security budgets on door entry systems, alarms, gates, cyber security experts will not protect your organisation from the damage a little inexpensive privacy compromising device can do.
So in addition to reminding people to not overlook technical surveillance, we also need to remind them not to overlook it during the weekends!
Do your employees access the ‘office’ during the weekend at any time? We mean access in terms of both physically access and remotely access. Can a member of staff bring in a friend or family member when they stop by at a weekend to swiftly collect something? Can the family or friends of your employees use the device that your employee uses to remote access your organisation? Do your members of staff access your organisation remotely via a secure internet connection?
Please make sure that you are aware of and mitigating the threat of technical surveillance AT ALL TIMES. You don’t switch off your firewall, alarms or cctv at the weekend. You don’t decide to leave your office premises unlocked at the weekend. Equally, you shouldn’t be allowing mitigations to prevent technical surveillance to be ignored during the weekend!
