Privacy Concerns About Children’s Toys
Many children already have smart/connected devices and toys. Some may be receiving their first ‘smart’ toy this Christmas. Parents should be aware of the privacy concerns surrounding these toys and know how to maintain privacy.
For each device or toy that has connectivity, do you know what information that device accesses routinely? Cameras? Microphones? Online activity? Chats? Emails? Are you aware of how that information is stored, processed, retrieved and shared? Who else could access that device? Could the device be manipulated in a malicious way?
Please make sure that you know how to ensure your child’s toy isn’t compromising the privacy of your child and family.
