McCann Private Investigator Found Dead

I’m always amazed at these type of stories.

Not because a private investigator has died, more at the apparent level of ridiculous decision taking on both sides of this case.

Firstly the Metro reports ‘The McCanns believed Halligen to be in a ‘different league’ to other private investigators as he boasted of ties with ex-FBI, CIA and Special Forces officers.’ Really? Did the McCanns really hire a private investigator for nearly half a million pounds to investigate the disappearance of their daughter based on that one persons ‘boasts’ of who he knew?

Secondly, at the apparent level of deceptiveness levied by a supposedly professional Private Investigator with even an associate of his writing online: ‘The lies and alcohol finally caught up with him.’.

These events are all too common in an industry which is still to be properly regulated. We come across multiple cases of ‘cowboy’ private detective, private investigator and even TSCM – Bug Sweeping companies taking clients money for what sometimes boils down to basic fraud. Other times the companies, or individuals representing the companies, are just Walter Mitty types who put on a good enough front to get hired by unsuspecting clients.

We’ll be making a point of blogging a lot more about the unscrupulous in the Private Investigator, Private Detective, Covert Surveillance and TSCM Bug Sweep industries.
