Close Protection Specialists Are Not TSCM Specialists

Bug sweeping (TSCM) for UHNW clients

A close protection professional is rarely also a TSCM specialist!

Sadly, we are frequently called in by UHNW clients’ security detail to rectify the damage done by non-TSCM specialists believing they can conduct a bug sweep! If you are a client, or you have an UHNW client, please don’t leave them more vulnerable to privacy compromising attacks by attempting to conduct a service you don’t have the skills or appropriate equipment to perform.

A TSCM specialist is rarely also a close protection specialist! They rarely claim to provide close protection services, or protective driving, or security details, or secure travel plans, etc. In fact it would be extremely unethical and unprofessional for a TSCM specialist to claim that they can perform CP duties too!

Why is it that we find some close protection/body guards are waving a hand held device around and telling their client that their home/hotel suite/vehicle are ‘clear’?

LIABILITY

If you are someone whom has done this, does your insurance cover you for providing this service? If you have missed an attack and your clients’ privacy is compromised, what could happen to you? Do you know how to identify a retro-reflector attack? A frequency hopping device? A keystroke logger? A passive network tap? A store and forward GSM device? A micro camera? etc

Leave the bug sweeping (technical surveillance counter measures) services to those who are experienced, equipped and up to date with their attack and mitigation knowledge. Rest assured that TSCM specialists recognise and appreciate YOUR specific close protection skill sets.
